There are tiny black bugs on my tree! Should I be Concerned?

April 20, 2023

Although there are many different insects that you could find on your trees, these little guys are commonly noticed. These are called Springtails and are not typically harmful to trees. Springtails like to live in moist environments like leaves and mulch. They feed on decaying leaves and plants material. Although usually found on the ground, Springtails will migrate up the tree when soil is oversaturated, usually after heavy rains. When the soil drys out, they should migrate back down the tree and into the soil. If you are not sure what type of insect you have on your trees, you should give us a call and have an arborist come out and inspect the trees in question. It’s possible you may have a more harmful pest and not realize it!
